Dallas police are responding to a shooting at Wilmer Hutchins High School.
First responders raced to the school just after 10:30am Friday amid reports of an active shooter, and with police and paramedics on the scene.
Early reports indicate at least one student was shot, however their condition is unknown. A suspect was reportedly apprehended.
Sources told local outlet WFAA that the suspect was taken into custody after they were seeing running towards the school football field.
Dallas ISD said in a tweet after midday that ‘all students and team members are safe’ at the school. This came as sources told Fox4 that a student was injured and taken to hospital.

Parents raced to the school, as parent Canard Walker said he ‘got up here as soon as possible’ after his daughter called him to warn him about an active shooter
Dallas ISD, the school district, said it has initiated a ‘safety protocol’, and numerous concerned parents have been seen racing to the campus.
The school district asked people to remain outside of the campus while police are on the scene.
Canard Walker, a parent outside the school, told WFAA that he was in a ‘state of shock’ after his daughter called him about a shooter at her school.
‘I was on my way,’ he said. ‘I got up here as soon as possible.
‘All the parents are in a state of shock, they just want to see their kids and make sure their babies are alright.’
One parent at the school said the campus has been fitted with metal detectors, requires clear backpacks and wands students who enter the building.
Another parent of a 10th grader told CBS News that she was called by her son, and said he was shaken up by the shooting.
‘I’m just all upset right now,’ she said. ‘Police don’t tell us anything.’
‘I don’t need nothing bad happening to my daughter. They won’t let me in, we’re just waiting right now,’ said another parent of an 11th grader, who said his daughter called him from work.
‘It goes back to Uvalde.’
